My primary uses would be (a) music from USB-C port on Macbook Pro for lossy streaming services (apple music, spotify, etc), (b) from PS5 for gaming and (c) from Apple TV for movies/TV at night. Switching back to any of the USB DACs felt like a clear downgrade in terms of overall drive and clarity. I'm eyeing the Modi/Magni Heresey combo to use with either HD6XX or Sundara's (settling on a pair, leaning towards HD6XX). Magni Heresy is in a black and red chassis. Choose Magni Heresy for insanely great measurements from an all-op-amp based headphone amp that uses super high quality parts, including a multiple paralleled output stage with feedforward. Microdynamics increased and everything started sounding a bit livelier and more rhythmic. Magni 3+ is in our traditional silver and gray chassis. Bassline started to have more authority and focus. Adding Magni 3 into the loop made a distinct positive difference. There is enough volume for sure, but the sound is not as alive and dynamic as you would expect it to be. Neither DF Black nor Lusya Fever can drive HE-4XX exceptionally well. This time around, Magni 3 proved clearly superior to a direct DAC connection.
